Tony Ford is the owner and founder of Evolve Design & Build, a sustainable building company based in, Portsmouth. The company specialises in eco-friendly home construction, renovations and green building solutions across Hampshire, West Sussex, the wider South Coast and Cornwall.
With over 30 years of hands-on experience in the building industry, Tony combines traditional craftsmanship with advanced ecological techniques to create energy-efficient, healthy homes for modern living. Evolve Design & Build delivers high-quality sustainable solutions—from new builds and renovations to solar panels, EV charging, MVHR systems, and green roofs—all designed to reduce energy costs and boost long-term value. We work closely with local building authorities to uphold the highest standards, ensuring every project meets current building regulations and requirements.

Tony partners with Katherine, an ecologist with over 18 years dedicated to restoring the UK’s natural environment. Katherine, who holds a Master’s in Ecological Restoration from the Eden Project, brings expert knowledge in biodiversity and sustainable landscapes. Tony began his career completing apprenticeships in plastering and carpentry at Portsmouth Dockyard, developing the strong foundations in quality workmanship and attention to detail that still define his projects today. Over three decades, his expertise has expanded to include new builds, home renovations, roofing systems, living roofs and sustainable construction methods designed to reduce environmental impact.
Today, Tony specialises in environmentally responsible construction, integrating modern technologies such as Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR), high-performance insulation systems and living roof solutions. His focus is on creating homes that not only look exceptional but promote better indoor air quality, lower energy consumption and long-term sustainability.
