How Does Green Roofing Work?

A green roof is made up of carefully designed layers, including waterproofing, drainage, growing medium, and specially selected plants. These layers work together to retain moisture, manage rainfall, and protect the roof beneath, without adding unnecessary strain to the structure.

Once installed, green roofs require minimal maintenance and naturally adapt to the UK climate. With the right design and installation, they provide long-lasting performance, improved energy efficiency, and a practical, low-impact way to create a greener home.

Why Choose Green Roofing for Your Home?

Green roofing offers homeowners a practical way to improve their property while also benefiting the environment. By adding a living layer to your roof, green roofs help improve insulation, reduce heat loss in winter, and keep homes cooler during warmer months. They also absorb rainwater naturally, helping to reduce surface runoff and pressure on drainage systems.

For UK homes, green roofs are particularly well suited to our climate, with regular rainfall supporting healthy plant growth. Alongside performance benefits, they can extend the lifespan of your roof, enhance visual appeal, and create valuable habitats for wildlife — all while contributing to a more sustainable, future-focused home.
